One resort, three properties

The Grand vs. Sunrise vs. Nizuc

Moon Palace Cancún is three properties sharing one beach, and all three take families. Guests ask which one to book more than anything else and nobody answers it straight, so here is the honest split.

The Playroom kids club on the Sunrise side

Sunrise

Families
Kids activities FlowRider double wave simulator, Playroom club for ages 4–12 and a teen lounge. The busiest side by design.
Adult activities Jack Nicklaus Signature golf, O Spa and 7 bars, but expect kids at most pools.
Pools The activity pools and the swim-up bar. 1,324 rooms feed them, so mornings matter.
Restaurants 11 restaurants and 7 bars: buffets, Italian, Brazilian, sushi and the food court kids ask for.
Walkability Longest property. 10–15 minutes end to end; the shuttle runs constantly.

The pool and waterslide on the Nizuc side

Nizuc

Multigen & calm
Kids activities Playroom club on site, and a pool waterslide with a splash zone. Quieter than Sunrise, not childless.
Adult activities Spa, tennis, the golf shuttle, and The Pub Brew House goes adults-only in the evening.
Pools One main pool with a slide, plus direct beach access. Loungers are findable at 10am.
Restaurants Six restaurants and four bars, plus full access to everything on the Sunrise side.
Walkability The most compact. Beach, buffet and lobby within a few minutes on foot.

The water park at The Grand at Moon Palace

The Grand

Families, the premium side
Kids activities A full water park: wave pool, lazy river, triple slides, splash zone, plus the Playroom club and a bowling alley.
Adult activities The best of the three: a 64-suite O Spa, adults-only Le Château and Unique Bar, Kassette karaoke after 9pm.
Pools Nine outdoor pools, some adults-only, plus swim-up suite terraces on the ground floor.
Restaurants 12 restaurants and 11 bars. Reservations move faster and service is noticeably calmer.
Walkability Separate, self-contained property: 1,121 rooms, and a 1,013-seat theater inside it.
Book it if

You want the water park and the better food, and the swim-up terrace is worth the step up.

Short answer

Family with kids: Sunrise if the rate matters, The Grand if the finish does. The Grand has the bigger water park and better food, and it is not adults-only, whatever you have read. Couples: Nizuc for calm at a fair rate, The Grand if you want the adults-only bars and the swim-up terrace. All three share the golf, the spa complex and the shuttle, so you are never locked out of the other side.
